WOMEN IN THE INDUSTRY Exclusive to Care
By: Melanie J. Gring
How do women maintain a work-life-joy balance while
working in an industry famous for long hours
and high stress? How can we as women keep pace with
the explosive growth in the constantly changing
vacation industry? These are just a couple of the many
issues a new organization called “Women in the
Industry” will explore in an attempt to provide
its members with meaningful information and additional
support to enrich their professional and personal lives.
Women in the Industry (WIN) is a non-profit group which
advocates, educates and connects women in
the vacation industry. It is the primary purpose of
WIN to foster the growth of women by recognizing
their accomplishments and creating a strong networking
environment. In addition to providing a forum
for women in the vacation industry to unite and leverage
best practices, WIN will also support industry
research particularly as it pertains to women.
WIN held its first networking event during the American
Resort Development Association’s annual
convention. Hosted by the American Resort Development
Association, nearly 180 women attended the
“standing room only” event. Jeanne Fitzmaurice,
RRP, who founded Gal to Gal Foundation to honor
the courage of those diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer,
delivered a moving message of “giving back
and making a difference”. WIN and the Gal to Gal
Foundation share in the common goal of forging a
global community of caring, intelligent individuals
who want to make a positive difference in the lives
of others through the promotion of ongoing community
and philanthropic activities.
Individual members of WIN will receive newsletters,
educational sessions and information, networking
opportunities and access to the membership directory.
Corporate memberships include a list of other
benefits as well as showing a commitment to support
the causes of this not for profit group.

and philanthropic activities. To that end, Jeanne Fitzmaurice,
RRP who founded Gal to Gal Foundation to honor the courage
